One Dream, One Team

idsMED Singapore held its CEO Townhall, Annual Country Meeting and Annual Awards & Appreciation on 20-21 March 2018. The exciting two-day affair was a true embodiment of this year’s theme, One Dream, One Team, and culminated in an amazing display of teamwork from everyone.

The event at Singapore’s Novotel on Stevens began with our CEO Ben Chang’s Townhall. He shared the entire Group’s performance, strategic initiatives, and his vision and direction of what he felt we could achieve in 2018/2019. Calling it not a Quantum leap but a Tsunami leap, he expressed his hopes and the actions needed for the Singapore team to aim high and go big as one.

Following Ben’s address, Rufi Susanto, President — Core Markets, and Sally Ng, Managing Director — Singapore, gave overviews as well as their own aspirations for the Singapore team in 2018/2019. Rufi emphasized the importance and relevance of this year’s carefully-chosen theme: One Dream, One Team. Gladys Cheng, Managing Director — Aesthetics, shared her insights on the medical aesthetics business and expansion plans for the region. Various department heads then closed off the afternoon with Business updates (and an entertaining skit, courtesy of our newly formed FSS team) from their respective departments.

Our evening kicked-off with staff in lovely evening dresses and sharp suits enjoying drinks and sumptuous pairings. As a tribute to this year’s theme, we were treated to a spectacular performance of “This Is Me” from the Oscar-nominated film The Greatest Showman by members of our senior management team. In the spirit of leading by example, they made an effort to set aside time in their busy schedules to labor away as one team to achieve one common dream — a great performance. After the performance (and unfortunately no encore), we took time to appreciate staff who have served idsMED Singapore for more than 5, 10, 15, 20, 35 and 40 years. As a first, 2018 also witnessed two new Award categories: CEO Award and HEART Award honoring outstanding contributions by selected staff members.

Day 2 of the Annual Country Meeting took place in Resorts World Sentosa. It was an action-packed day filled with lots of laughs and camaraderie as teams worked together to act out scenes (whoever thought to make their colleagues act out “no more toilet paper” is a genius), play human bingo and unscramble anagrams related to our core values. The post-lunch activities were even more exciting as teams challenged each other outdoors to laser tag (we hear round two calling), kite flying, waist pong and more. It was heartwarming to see people from different departments who would otherwise not have been able to  get to know each other better engage in friendly competition and cheer each other on. As idsMED Singapore’s ACM 2018 drew to a close, we were reminded of the importance of team spirit (and taking one for the team) and being committed to getting the job done as five guys from the Engineering team represented their teams in a dance off for the top prize. One team may have walked away with the grand prize, but the sensational teamwork and good rapport made us feel like we were all winners. We are one team working towards one dream after all!
