The idsMED Aesthetics team held the first-ever Asian Pigment Conference 2018, part of idsMED Aesthetics Center of Excellence’s Asian Aesthetics Series, in Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 4 November 2018.
The Asian Aesthetics Series, the brainchild of Gladys Cheng, Managing Director – Medical Aesthetics, aims to provide Medical Aesthetic doctors with a platform to seek expert advice, share practical and clinical experience, as well as inspire new ideas and new combinations/methods of treating different, key Asian skin conditions.
Pigmentation is one of the most common skin concerns in Asia, especially South East Asia, as we are geographically predisposed to developing pigmentation. Constant exposure to summer’s pigmentation-inducing sunlight and UV rays is one of the biggest contributors to the occurrence of pigmentation. As such, Medical Aesthetic doctors in the region see a lot of pigmentary cases and they sometimes find it difficult to achieve total clearance. However, with the advancement of technology and depending on the patient’s skin, total clearance can now be achieved. Of course, a combination of physical, chemical and mechanical methods must be used in order for this to happen. This is where the Asian Pigment Conference comes in. It is at such sessions that doctors have the chance to share and learn the best combinations from one another.
The Asian Pigment Conference is the first of its kind in the region because priority and emphasis was placed on panel discussions and dialogue. After months of research and brainstorming, Gladys and the Medical Aesthetics team realized that there was a real need for such dialogue in the Medical Aesthetics industry in order for it to grow further. The team also felt that by building their customers’ knowledge in this manner, they were also helping to build their customers’ businesses.
