Why Do You Need an Anti-Pollution Mask?

Clean Air Network (Hong Kong) analyzed recent HK’s air quality data and the trend for the first half of 2018 and finds the concentrations of the roadside pollutants (including NO2, PM2.5 and PM10), remain one to three times higher than WHO recommended levels, posing a significant threat to public health.

This worrying level of air pollution is especially dangerous for children, pregnant women and the elderly as through the pollued air, they can contact major health diseases such as stroke, heart failure and respiratory diseases. Thus, Clean Air Network is advising HK residence to use a mask which is effective to block harmful PM2.5 to protect themselves if necessary.

The usual N95 Mask is not enough

What is the difference between a N95 than a regular disposable face mask? An N95 masks has a technology that can absorb if not all, most of the PM2.5 particulate that is in the polluted air therefore, making it the air safe and breathable for HK’s residents. There are three types of masks meet N95 standard; the regular N95 masks, mask with activated charcoal and RespoKare Anti-Pollution masks.

All three masks have the technology to filtrate PM2.5/PM10 particulate from the polluted air however not all of them are able to neutralize all of the harmful gasses. For instance, the regular N95 masks can only filtrate the PM2.5 particles while the N95 with activated charcoal are able to absorb some of the Nitrogen Oxides in the air. But, for the RespoKare Anti-Pollution mask, they are not only able to filtrate the PM2.5 particles but also to fully neutralized Nitrogen Oxides, Sulphur Oxide and other toxic oxidizing gas in the air. On top of that, they also have a “Pollution Indicator” technology in each mask that enables it to identify the level of Nitrogen Oxides and other toxic gasses in the polluted air.

That being said, it is clear that the citizens of HK should regulate the use of RespoKare Anti-Pollution mask to protect them and those they love from harmful gasses in the air.
