idsMED Indonesia, in collaboration with PERDATIN Jawa Barat and GE Healthcare, organised an online webinar entitled "Highlights of Neurologic Monitoring in the Operating Room".
Held on 15 January 2022 via Zoom, the webinar was conducted to increase the competence, knowledge and skills of doctors on the importance of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS).
Distinguished Anaesthesiologists who are practitioners and academics invited to share their expertise were:
• dr. Dhany Budipratama, Sp.An-KIC;
• Dr. Reza Widianto Sudjud dr., Sp.An-KAKV., KIC., M.Kes; and
• dr. M. Erias Erlangga, Sp.An-KIC., M.Kes
Meanwhile, dr. Nurita Dian K.S.S., Sp.An-KIC moderated the whole session.
The webinar began with an explanation of ERAS by dr. Dhany Budipratama, Sp.An-KIC. ERAS is a surgical technique developed to speed up treatment and healing for patients during the patient’s post-operative recovery period.
This was followed by a discussion with Dr. Reza Widianto Sudjud, dr., Sp.An-KAKV., KIC., M.Kes on the benefits of regional oximeters in the operating room. The regional oximeter is an essential tool in the transcutaneous measurement of the cerebral frontal cortex, which is known to be the most susceptible area to changes in oxygen supply and demand. Hence, it is used to monitor these areas in patients.
The last speaker for the webinar, dr. M. Erias Erlangga, Sp. An-KIC, M.Kes, talked about intrahospital transport of critically ill patients which refers to the transferring of patients in the hospital from one unit to another, such as from the operating room to the ICU or from the ICU to radiology. It was emphasised that this action required the attending doctor to recommend specific goals to ensure that the procedure was conducted carefully as this would help the patients recover quickly.
Overall, the key panellists brought forth several interesting factors in the various techniques to help improve post-operative patient-care and ensure they achieve optimum recovery.
We hope that webinars such as this would enrich the knowledge base of our healthcare professionals and help them in carrying out their duties more effectively.
