In 1987, a group of prominent businessmen in the State of Penang conceived the idea of establishing the island’s first private hospital. In 1989, the majority control of the company was taken over by Gleneagles International (S) Pte Ltd.

In 2010, the management of Gleneagles planned an upgrade extension exercise to cater for the ever growing patient admittance. This latest development included 10 new operating theatres with two digital operating rooms for minimally invasive surgery, outpatient department with 80 consultation suites, and additional beds with higher capacity for single rooms.

The Sonographer School is a project newly established within the directorate of HRH Princess Chulabhorn College of Medical Sciences and will be the first ultrasound school in Thailand. Located in the 780 square-metres Chulabhorn Chalermprakiet Medical Centre at the Chulabhorn Hospital in Bangkok, the school is the first of a series of campaigns that will be beneficial for future success in Thailand’s healthcare industry. The foundation of this campaign starts with GE Healthcare, in collaboration with idsMED, who will fully support the ultrasound units to the school which include 3 units of ultrasound systems console, and 5 units of hand held ultrasound systems.

Under the administration of HRH Princess Chulabhorn College of Medical Sciences, 2016, the school has an independent and efficient structure thus enabling it to achieve the established purpose of producing more medical personnel, by offering short-term and intermediate courses, Graduate Diploma Program and Master’s Degree courses. The curriculum is partly developed by Monash University, Australia.

The much anticipated 500-beds Gleneagles Hospital, Hong Kong (GHK) is officially opened for service from 21 March 2017. GHK is a state-of-the-art, multi-specialty tertiary hospital located on Hong Kong Island South. It is a joint venture hospital between Parkway Pantai, one of Asia’s largest integrated private healthcare operators, and NWS Holdings Limited. Uniquely, despite being a private hospital, GHK is an affiliate teaching hospital of the prestigious Hong Kong University. Occupying a gross floor area of 46,750 square metres, GHK provides cutting edge medical technologies, and a comprehensive range of high quality clinical services spanning more than 35 specialties and subspecialties (including general medicine, general surgery, orthopaedics and traumatology, gynaecology and others).

Parkway Pantai and idsMED have had many successful project collaboration across the region spanning from Singapore to Malaysia, and now to Hong Kong. It was a strong testimony of this association when idsMED Hong Kong was chosen as GHK’s partner for providing the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) solution and all its patient beds and management system. Leveraging on idsMED Group resource and its extensive regional expertise from supply chain to technical services, from designing to commissioning, our local project management team delivered, installed and commissioned multiple washers and sterilizers together with hundreds of patient beds and other items within very tight timeline.

Immanuel Hospital is a privately-run Christian hospital in Bandung, West Java which is also a Teaching Hospital. The hospital occupied a 5.2 Ha area with building size of more than 34,685m2, with more than 345 beds. Facilities include Central Surgery, Sleep Laboratory and Nutrition Clinic.

At the end of 2008 we received information about the plan of expansion of a new building for ICU, NICU, PICU and OT. This is a building dedicated to the founder, called Alkema Memorial Building. We tried to offer ceiling pendant as solution for OT and ICU, but the concept was still quite new so the users were not familiar with the utilization of ceiling pendants outside of OT. At the beginning of 2009 we invited the ICU and OT users to have a site visit to our pendant installations in other hospitals and explained in more details about the utilization of pendants in ICU as space and workflow management solution, not just ceiling extension arms to hold equipments, therefore it is applicable also in ICU not only in OT.

At that time the progress of the building was already 50% built, and after many approaches finally we succeeded in convincing the users. In April 2009 during the Board of Directors meeting, the users requested to look into purchasing ceiling pendants for ICU and OT.

The National Heart Centre Singapore has a Vision to be The Leader in heart care and Mission, as ‘A people centered organization serving patients through passion and innovation in cardiovascular care, research and education’. Heart disease becoming the leading cause of death in Singapore with over hundred thousand of patients seek treatment at the NHCS and is expected to grow vigorously in future. To meet the current workload and future demand, plans for the new centre was officiated by then Healthcare Minister Mr. Khaw Boon Wan in 2009. The new National Heart Centre Singapore is now a 12 storey building with a floor space of 48,000 square meters, increasing clinic capacity two fold.

The new building was designed with aim to reduce 30 percent reduction in energy consumption due to direct west facing façade, extensive natural ventilation in the concourse area, installation of an efficient air-conditioning plant and use of regenerative lifts. This translates to annual energy savings of an estimated S$1.3 Million and a drop in carbon emission by 3,000 tons yearly. With key focus on seamless care delivery, the new building also feature self-registration kiosks and one stop payment system to reduce patient waiting time. To help patients take charge of their heart health, it will also house a new health information library. With clear sight on being a digital heart hospital, the centre is built with leverage on technology to integrate clinical systems to improve the processes and outcomes of care.

Parkway Pantai Limited (PPL), part of the IHH Healthcare is one of Asia’s largest private healthcare providers with operations and investments in Singapore, Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, India, Vietnam and Brunei.It has an extensive network of 18 hospitals with 6 JCI accredited and more than 3,500 licensed beds in aggregate. In Singapore, PPL is the largest Healthcare provider and operate Mt. Elizabeth Hospital, Gleneagles Hospital, Parkway East Hospital, all successfully accredited by JCI and Mt Elizabeth Novena was built and opens in July 2012. Over 1300thousand specialist doctors are credentialed by PPL to admit patients to its hospitals in Singapore.

Mt Elizabeth Novena project award for a major proportion of the hospital development Medical Equipment solutions is indeed a very prestigious win for IDS Medical Systems.
