Having a healthy lifestyle allows people to live their lives worry-free from any illness or injuries, and fully enjoy all sorts of activities and experiences with their friends and family. To promote a healthy lifestyle for their employees, the idsMED Singapore HR team launched a “Live Well” campaign throughout the whole month of November, offering employees various ways to keep fit and live healthily. This aligns with “Healthier SG”, a national initiative by the Ministry of Health (MOH) that encourages people to actively seek out better health and quality of life.
The campaign kicked off with Fruits Day on 1 November 2023, where a bulk order of pears was delivered to the idsMED office and later distributed to every employee. With a regular schedule that occurs fortnightly, there was a second Fruits Day on 15 November 2023 where employees received boxes of grapes. This initiative has brought both convenience and availability of fruit to the employees in the Singapore office – effectively prompting them to consume fruits more regularly.
To encourage more physical activities, the HR team arranged for a series of six Zumba classes for three months, beginning in October until December 2023. In each session, the participants would engage in an intense workout as they danced to the latest trending songs. Ms. Pek Gan, a private Zumba instructor, enthusiastically guided everyone through the various dance moves, keeping everyone in high spirits throughout the session. The participating employees truly appreciate the time and effort she has been giving to come to the idsMED Learning Academy and conduct these classes.
In wanting to offer employees different platforms to keep active, the HR team picked up on an ongoing weekly Futsal activity that was originally birthed from a group of employees who shared the same interest and gathered to play the sport. The HR team began promoting the activity to employees in the Singapore office via email, to increase awareness of the initiative, in hopes that more people would join the sessions. They also provided some financial support for the court bookings, so that employees can sustainably continue participating in the initiative, helping them to stay active on a regular basis.
On 10 November 2023, the iWorkHealth Survey was reintroduced to the Singapore office as the HR team boosted their efforts in employee welfare. Developed by the Ministry of Manpower’s Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Institute, in partnership with the WSH Council, Institute of Mental Health, Changi General Hospital and Health Promotion Board, the survey functions as a tool that helps identify hidden or unexpected workplace stressors, putting more focus on mental health. The survey results would allow both employees and the HR team to take necessary action to resolve the identified stressors.
On the same day, a team of massage therapists from Atos Wellness was invited to the office. Throughout the day, employees would come into the idsMED Learning Academy according to their time slots and receive a short head and shoulder massage. This complimentary massage was greatly needed as sitting at the work desk for long hours could lead to stiff muscles. Employees might not have time to get a massage in their own time, so making this available in the office was highly appreciated by many.
For employees to gain knowledge on how to better take care of their health, the HR team organised a “Lunch & Learn” session on 16 November 2023 where employees gathered at the idsMED Learning Academy for a delicious catered bento set lunch. At the same time, guest speaker, Ms. Wong Min from VisionPal delved into the various eye diseases and shared invaluable insights to enable employees to better care for their eyes. Then, the VisionPal team provided an additional eye checkup service to the participating employees, along with a mini bazaar that sold items like eyedrops and spectacles. From learning new things to getting a complimentary eye check, this “Lunch & Learn” was truly both an insightful and beneficial session for the employees who attended.
Another important aspect of maintaining good health involves being mindful of what we eat. Hoping to introduce the idea of healthy snacking in a fun and engaging way, the HR team decided to organise a special activity titled “Reach for the Sky” on 17 November 2023. With a dual purpose of getting employees to stay active, the session included a jump rope competition with several rounds, giving employees the chance to participate individually, in pairs and even in groups, after which, the employees helped themselves to complimentary healthy snacks that the HR team had prepared.
Killing two birds with one stone, a group of employees from idsMED Singapore participated in HCA’s “Walk with Me” charity walk on 19 November 2023 – clocking in some exercise while contributing to a good cause. The group’s commitment involved choosing the different distances that they wanted to cover, giving them the chance to get some personal exercise done.
Concluding the “Live Well” campaign, the HR team arranged for idsMED Singapore’s Annual Health Screening on 22 November 2023. It is crucial to go for regular health checks so that people can confidently engage in their daily activities knowing that they are in good health. Health screenings also can help to detect issues early, if any. A big thanks to the HR team for offering this benefit to the employees as a subsidised health screening, held in the office.
The HR team maximised this campaign packed with activities throughout the month. Their efforts were not in vain as the employees were able to find enjoyment and health benefits in all the events planned. Kudos to the team for the time and work put into planning the campaign.
