Basic Life Support Workshop at KOWANI 2019

On 30 July 2019, The Indonesia Healthcare Forum (IndoHCF) team and idsMED Indonesia supported Pelatihan Bantuan Hidup Dasar, a workshop for Basic Life Support was held at KOWANI headquarter at Jl. Imam Bonjol No. 58, Menteng, Central Jakarta. This event was co-organized by KOWANI (The Indonesian Women Congress), KREKI (Indonesian Health Emergency Volunteer Community) & PERKI (The Indonesia Heart Association). The event was attended by around 50 members from 20 organizations under KOWANI.

KOWANI is a chamber for various women organizations across the nation. It was established in 1928 and is now catering 91 organizations. KREKI is a community-based organization that gathers and fosters volunteers for delivering basic life support on emergency situations.

Dr. Supriyantoro, Sp.P, MARS, President of KREKI and Ignatia Endang K. Siregar, Head of KOWANI were on hand to open the workshop. Presented as well among the honored guests were dr. Agung Fabian, Sp.JP, representing member of PERKI and Tati Sapta Aji, Vice General Secretary of KOWANI.

The workshop itself was delivered by PERKI personnel. Theoretical knowledge of Basic Life Support was delivered by dr. Agung Fabian, Sp.JP and hands-on skills were instructed by trained nurses; Ns. Gunawan, S.Kep and Ns. Rojikin, S.Kep. The topics covered on this workshop were CPR & emergency choking treatment, for adults as well as infants. At the end of the session, all attendees were asked to do a post-workshop evaluation to acquire certificates for the Basic Life Support Workshop.

Mrs. Endang shared that it was highly expected that this workshop could be the starting point of the widespread “spider web” across the organizations under KOWANI, concerning about Basic Life Support. She also wished that all the knowledge and skills acquired by KOWANI members on this event could be carried on to the various organizations where they belong.
